Losing luggage can ruin a trip by causing inconvenience, discomfort, stress, and potential financial expenses. It disrupts plans, affects personal and professional aspects of travel, and can lead to security concerns and delays, making the overall experience unpleasant and frustrating.
Here are my top tips to prevent the airlines from losing your luggage:
Make sure you remove all stickers and tags off your luggage from your previous trip. This can cause your luggage to get mixed up when it gets scanned at the airport
Add a luggage tag with your name and contact info on the outside and inside of your luggage. This will help in case the outside tag comes off.
Get a tracker like Apple air tag, Tile pro Bluetooth tracker, or Samsung smart tag to track from your cellphone. Some airlines like United, American, and Delta offer their own tracking via mobile app
The best tip to prevent lost luggage is to take a carry on instead of checking luggage
While these tips can help minimize the risk of lost luggage, it's important to remember that no method is foolproof. Airlines can occasionally misplace bags despite precautions. Being prepared with essentials in your carry-on can greatly ease the inconvenience if this happens.
