Airports are expected to be the busiest they’ve ever been over the Christmas and New Year’s travel period. AAA projects 7.5 million air travelers this holiday season, surpassing 2019’s record of 7.3 million passengers.
Here are a few tips to help you navigate:
1. Get to airport early, especially if you are parking your car. Suggested times are 2
hours early for domestic flights and 3 hours early for international flights
2. Most airports offer advanced reserved parking if you book 24 hours before your arrival. This is really convenient and will help with time
3. Download your airline app. This will help keep you updated on any delays or cancellations
4. Traveling with carry-on luggage saves money, reduces the risk of lost luggage, and speeds up your airport experience
5. Research your airlines cancellations and delay policy on Department of Transportation’s dashboard. It will help you understand the amenities and compensation policy.
Planning ahead helps reduce stress, provides a buffer for unexpected challenges, and a smoother travel experience.
I hope everyone has safe travels during the holiday season.
