Here are some new and important travel requirements for 2025:
NEW RULES TO TRAVEL TO THE UK
There are new rules to travel to the UK that started early January. Travelers from the US, Canada, and many non-European countries need an (ETA) Electronic Travel Authorization to enter or transit through their airports. This requirement applies to short stays up to 6 months and is required for travelers of all ages and you will need this in addition to a valid passport.
Go to the UK Government website (link below) and complete the requested info. It will cost about $12 and takes 3 working days to process.
The following will NOT need an ETA:
People with a visa
People with an exempt vignette
British or Irish citizens
People with a British overseas territories citizen passport
People living in Ireland who are traveling from Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man
Â
NEW EUROPE TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Expected to start mid year, U.S. citizens will need an (ETIAS) which is an electronic screening system that allows visa-free access to the UK for short-term visits which is 90 days or less.
Once in place, you can apply online or through the mobile app. The application fee is estimated to be $8 for adults between the ages of 18 and 70. It will be valid for 3 years, or until your current passport expires, whichever occurs first.Â
Stay tuned for more details.
YOU WLL NEED A REAL ID TO FLY DOMESTIC
On May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.
The TSA warns that you could face delays at airport security checkpoints after the deadline.
Find out if you're REAL ID is compliant by going to the website listed below:
Hope this helps you prepare for your 2025 travels.
