Easy steps to check status for your US passport renewal application

Are you trying to figure out the status for your US passport renewal application?

I have some easy steps to help you.

As you know, traveling abroad has been in high demand since the pandemic, so the US Department of State advises travelers to renew their US passport with a minimum of 6 months in advance

Current passport processing times are taking 10 to 13 weeks for routine service and 7 to 9 weeks for expedited, not including processing and mailing times.

Once you apply for your renewa

It’ll take 7 to 10 business days for your application to be trackable online. Below is the link for the online passport status system.

Once you enter your info, if you receive a “Not Found,” status that means it is in transit to a passport agency. “In Process” status means it is with the U.S. State Department and will be reviewed by staff

You can also call the National Passport Information Center at 877-487-2778 (or 888-874-7793 if you’re hard of hearing) to check your status. Their hours are Monday -Friday 8 am to 10 pm EST and from 10 am to 3 pm EST on Saturdays. They are closed on Sundays.

Remember that many countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months at the time of entry, so make sure you do your research before traveling abroad.
